Obsession?

The beginning of My Jeep obsession started January 10, 2003... A couple of days prior to that, coworker was pondering what do to with his 1993 ZJ (Grand Cherokee) Laredo that had suffered catastrophic engine failure. Not even seriously, I told him I'd give him $500 for it. I'd never even seen it before. He responded that he'd go ask his wife...

The next day he asks if I'm still interested. I'd pondered it overnight, and I'd decided that if it was in at least halfway decent shape, he had a deal. I checked it out, and we made the deal on January 10, 2003. I had a buddy with a trailer help me out, and we hauled it off that night. That's how I came to own my first Jeep.

The idea to purchase the second Jeep came to me courtesy of my recently acquired fiancee. Her brother had owned a CJ and she's always wanted the CJ/TJ style of Jeep. She'd mentioned this to me before I got in the situation of needing additional transportation, and I'd just kind of filed it away.

...then the day came that I decided I needed to trade in my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP on something still under warranty. As I'd really warmed to the idea of owning the TJ style, and I'd read a great deal about the Rubicon they'd started selling the year before, it seemed like a good idea to hit the dealer to check them out. We ended up deciding to get one the day we went to look.

Thus began the obsession...
